Retaining Wall Installation

Retaining walls solve practical problems — they hold back slopes, prevent erosion, and create level planting areas on uneven ground — but they also add serious visual dimension to a landscape. Brazilian Brick Pavers builds retaining walls that do both, using interlocking concrete block systems, natural stone, and segmental wall units that complement your existing or planned hardscape.

Florida's soil conditions make proper retaining wall construction especially important. Sandy soils drain quickly but don't provide the same structural support as clay-heavy ground, which means base preparation and drainage behind the wall are critical. We excavate a trench below the frost line (shallow in Florida, but still necessary for structural stability), lay a compacted crushed stone base, and build up courses with structural adhesive between layers. Every wall includes a perforated drainage pipe behind it — backfilled with gravel — to relieve hydrostatic pressure that would otherwise push the wall forward over time.

Walls under 4 feet are straightforward residential projects that our crew handles routinely. Taller walls or those bearing significant soil loads may require engineering review, which we coordinate as needed. We also build decorative seat walls, planter walls, and terraced garden beds that don't retain significant soil but add architectural interest and functionality to patios and outdoor living spaces.
